EXO NODES
UAE e-invoicing mandate

UAE e-invoicing starts 1 January 2027. Your invoices, PINT AE-ready today.

EXO NODES generates UAE e-invoices in the PINT AE format from the sales, customer and tax data you already keep. On request, we connect it to your accredited service provider and set your e-invoicing up with you, working together with the provider.

Invoice businesses or government? E-invoicing applies to you.

The mandate timeline

Two dates for every business: appoint, then go live.

The UAE is phasing e-invoicing in by business size. Each business appoints one accredited service provider, then issues B2B and B2G invoices as PINT AE e-invoices from its go-live date.

Readiness checklist

Five things to have in place before your date.

E-invoicing covers business-to-business and business-to-government invoices. Some transactions are excluded, so check the decision for yours. The software side is where EXO NODES helps today.

  1. 1Know your phaseYour group (AED 50M+ revenue, under AED 50M, or government) sets your two dates.
  2. 2Appoint one accredited service providerEach business appoints a single Ministry-accredited ASP for sending and receiving.

Businesses and consumers

Sell to both? One system, the right invoice each time.

Under the current rules, only invoices to businesses and government become e-invoices. Sales to consumers keep their normal tax invoice.

Business or government customer

E-invoice

A PINT AE e-invoice, sent through your accredited service provider to the buyer’s provider, with the tax data reported to the FTA.

Consumer customer

Normal tax invoice

The tax invoice or receipt your customers get today, in Arabic and English, printed or sent as before.

  • EXO NODES decides per invoice from the customer record: a business with a TRN gets an e-invoice.
  • At the till, a business invoice captures the company name and TRN for walk-in company customers.
  • Credit notes follow the original invoice, and supplier e-invoices are received too.

Who needs it

If you invoice businesses or government, it applies to you.

Revenue only decides when you start. What decides whether you need it is who you invoice.

Mostly business invoices

E-invoicing covers almost every invoice you issue.

  • Wholesale and general trading
  • Import and export
  • Construction and contracting
  • Logistics, warehousing and customs clearing
  • Software and IT services
  • Marketing, advertising and PR
  • Accounting, legal and PRO services

Businesses and consumers

E-invoices for your business customers, normal invoices for the rest.

  • Hotels and hotel apartments
  • Clinics and pharmacies (insurer billing)
  • Real estate sales and leasing
  • Car rental and fleet services
  • Travel agencies and events
  • Building materials and hardware
  • Laundry for hotels and restaurants

Mostly consumers

Restaurants, shops, salons and similar businesses still need to receive e-invoices from their suppliers, and to issue them for any sale to a company.

How it works in the UAE

Structured data, not a PDF.

Under the UAE model, the seller’s accredited service provider validates each e-invoice and sends it to the buyer’s provider, and the tax data is reported to the FTA. Businesses do not connect to the FTA themselves; they appoint a provider and use software that can produce PINT AE invoices.

Questions

Straight answers.

When does e-invoicing become mandatory in the UAE?

In phases. Businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more must appoint an accredited service provider by 30 Oct 2026 and issue e-invoices from 1 Jan 2027. Businesses under AED 50 million appoint one by 31 Mar 2027 and start on 1 Jul 2027. Government entities start on 1 Oct 2027. Confirm the current dates with the Ministry of Finance.

Is EXO NODES an accredited service provider?

No. EXO NODES is the invoicing software: it produces your invoices in the PINT AE format. The accredited service provider is a separate, Ministry-accredited company that validates and sends them. You appoint one ASP for your business.

Can EXO NODES send e-invoices through the UAE network?

Yes, on request. EXO NODES generates your invoices in the PINT AE format today, and we connect it to your accredited service provider as a setup project, working together with the provider. The scope, quote and timeline are agreed with you before we start. A self-service connection inside EXO NODES is on the roadmap.

We sell to businesses and to consumers. Does every invoice become an e-invoice?

No. Under the current rules, invoices to businesses and government are e-invoices sent through your accredited service provider, and sales to consumers keep their normal tax invoices and receipts. You must also be able to receive e-invoices from your suppliers. In your setup, EXO NODES decides per invoice from the customer record, so your team does not have to choose.

Which businesses need e-invoicing?

Any business that invoices other businesses or government: wholesale and trading, import and export, contracting, logistics, IT, agencies and professional services, and the business side of hotels, clinics, real estate and car rental. Revenue only decides your dates: AED 50 million or more starts first, everyone else follows.

What does the e-invoice allowance on my plan mean?

It is the number of PINT AE-ready e-invoices a plan can generate each month. Sending through your accredited provider, once it is set up for you, uses the same allowance.

Do I need my own accredited service provider?

Yes. Under the UAE model each business appoints one Ministry-accredited service provider. If you have not chosen one yet, we can help you compare providers as part of your setup. Speak to a registered tax agent about your own situation.
