ZATCA e-invoicing

ZATCA e-invoicing is Saudi Arabia’s electronic invoicing system, run by the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, under which invoices are generated electronically and, in the integration phase, shared with ZATCA’s FATOORA platform.

The first phase required invoices to be generated by compliant software. The integration phase connects that software to FATOORA and is being rolled out in waves by taxpayer size. Standard tax invoices are cleared before they are shared with the buyer; simplified invoices are reported after issue.

Worth knowing

• The Saudi format and its technical requirements differ from the UAE’s PINT AE, so one does not cover the other.
• ZATCA notifies each wave of taxpayers ahead of their integration date.
• A UAE business with a Saudi entity needs to plan for both systems.
