PINT AE: the UAE e-invoice format, explained.
PINT AE is the data format every UAE e-invoice uses. It is the international Peppol invoice standard (PINT) with UAE-specific rules, written as structured XML so systems can read it without anyone retyping it.

What a PINT AE e-invoice contains
- Seller and buyer details, including their tax registration numbers (TRNs).
- Invoice number, issue date and document type: tax invoice or credit note.
- Each line: item, quantity, price and VAT category with its rate.
- Totals: net amount, VAT and amount due, in AED.
- Electronic addresses that let the providers route the invoice to the buyer.
Why a PDF is no longer enough
A PDF is a picture of an invoice. A PINT AE e-invoice is the invoice itself as data, which the buyer’s system can post automatically and the tax authority can read. For in-scope invoices, the structured e-invoice is the legal invoice; a PDF can still be sent as a readable copy.
