Z report
Also calledEnd-of-day reportTill close
A Z report is the numbered end-of-shift or end-of-day report that closes a till, prints the final totals and resets the counters for the next period.
An X report reads the running totals without resetting anything; a Z report closes the period for good. Z reports carry sequential numbers, so a missing number shows that a close is unaccounted for.
Worth knowing
- A useful Z report shows gross sales, discounts, voids, refunds, net sales, VAT and takings by payment type.
- Count the drawer before looking at the expected cash figure, so the count is honest.
- Your Z reports, period by period, should add up to the sales on your VAT return.
